You’re never rich enough to live (or die) without it
Every day we speak with people from all walks of life about their estate planning documents, from Mum and Dad, the barista making your coffee or your children’s primary school teacher. Everybody needs to have their affairs in order should the untimely (or even timely), occur, no matter who you are.
Whilst the requirement for estate planning is important for everyone, the importance of having these documents in place becomes even more evident as a person’s wealth increases and/or their personal situation may become more complicated. Surprisingly, it is often the people at the top of the food chain who have the least effective or even non-existent estate planning. This can result in massive heartache for your loved ones as well as everyone who relies on you “when the time comes”.
Put some thought into what you want to have occur “when the time comes”. There is nothing worse than watching a family struggle to come to terms with unsophisticated, open-ended, “holey” documents, which could leave them open to challenges and litigation.
